Phrygia is a releasable nation in central Anatolia, representing the Achaemenid and Hellenistic satrapy of (Greater) Phrygia, itself based on the core territories of the ancient Anatolian kingdom of 20pxPhrygia. It can be released as a satrapy of Thrace during its partition of the former Antigonid territories if the Antigonid Kingdom decides to abandon Asia for Greece during its collapse in the The Antigonid Cause Wavers event chain. If Thrace is involved in the partition of the Antigonid Kingdom and the Antigonid Kingdom owns at least one territory in the region of Phrygia (except for the province of Isauria), Phrygia will be released from the Antigonid Kingdom's territories in most of Phrygia as a Thracian satrapy.
Historically, Phrygia was the original satrapy of Antigonus and the base from where the Antigonid Kingdom was founded and went on to dominate most of Hellenistic Asia. It would remain under Antigonid rule until Antigonos's defeat in 301 BC, at which point the satrap Dokimos defected to Lysimachos, remaining under Thracian suzerainity until the fall of Lysimachus's own kingdom in 281 BC. The Phrygian satrapy would then pass to the Seleukid Empire, and was likely dissolved with the invasion of the Gauls in the 270s BC.
The below description is one of several available for this event.
Antigonos' death has, combined with recent setbacks, fractured the stability of the cyclops' kingdom. His heir and co-king Demetrios, unable to hold together the expiring loyalties of his subjects, has abandoned much of the kingdom to the claims of the other Diadochi while he retreats to lick his wounds among Greek friends.
In the chaos, Asian provincial notaries have given us their loyalty - and thus dominion over Antigonos' original holdings in Phrygia granted by Alexander the Great - extending our influence across the Bosporos into Bithynia et Paphlagonia and beyond.
