Would it make sense to add a section/space at the bottom of the template for the heritage? Unlike national ideas in EU4 heritages aren't very extensive so it probably makes more sense to wrap it into the template rather than make a new one. DC123456789 (talk) 21:45, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

It all depends on how much they repeat themselves. It may be useful to list them all in a single page as for national ideas on EU4 and pull it from there. I have also wanted to discuss about preparing/updating a suggested layout example for country pages to use. If you have the time, do you think you could prepare such a layout on your sandbox and we develop it from there? You can use the existing one as a base. ~ SolSys (talk) 19:24, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
I suppose how much they repeat depends on exactly which country pages get created. If you consider it over the pages that actually currently exist a little more than half have a unique heritage since major/interesting nations are much more likely to have their own heritage and a page, but if we consider over all the tags in the game the vast majority will repeat since most of them are small tribal tags that are basically identical.
Currently the heritages are structured as a table, I imagine that it would requires splitting them up into small individual templates for each heritage?
Yeah, I could try updating the country page layout example. Would something similar to the current Bactria or Seleukid Empire pages work? DC123456789 (talk) 04:37, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
If you believe those pages represent the ideal composition of a country page then they could work. ~ SolSys (talk) 18:40, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
I've made a draft of an improved country page style guide in my sandbox. I've left out heritages for the moment since that'll require its own template (or editing the country one). - DC123456789 (talk) 15:04, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
I noticed in most of the section you left a note asking to list something -- for example, naval/army units or starting income and sources. Are the details that important? Can the same goal be achieved using a more general review? I think that putting all the small details on those pages would be an issue when an update will be required. ~ SolSys (talk) 18:37, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
Yeah I don't really think those details are particularly important, especially the ones in the military and economy sections, and mostly put them there because there already seemed to be somewhat of an established pattern on some of the more detailed pages. I could definitely edit it to be somewhat more general. - DC123456789 (talk) 18:57, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
The existing pages are the reason I suggested an updated country page. Seems users add them based on the HoI4 wiki (which I don't need to tell you is a rather different game).~ SolSys (talk) 19:12, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
Makes sense. I've just removed the economy and military sections altogether, since I don't think that most countries are going to have much that distinguishes them there really. - DC123456789 (talk) 02:45, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Formable Countries[edit]

Would it be possible to get a version of this template with most of the fields stripped out (except maybe culture) for formable countries, or (might be better) make most of them optional? A lot of fields aren't really relevant or even meaningful for them since they aren't predefined in any way like in EU4. - DC123456789 (talk) 02:36, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
