Telmessos
Telmessos is a releasable nation in southern Anatolia that can be released through the
Egyptian mission tree The Eastern Border. The well-protected harbor of Telmessos gave it opportunity to become one of the largest cities in the region, making its capture a particular goal of the
Ptolemaic Kingdom.
Background[edit | edit source]
Telmessos was a flourishing city in the west of Lycia. It was famed for its school of diviners, consulted among others by the Lydian king Croesus, prior to declaring war against
Cyrus, and by
Alexander the Great, when he came to the town after the siege of
Halikarnassos. Telmessos was a member of the
Delian League in the 5th century BCE and was taken by Alexander in 334 BCE, as a part of his
Argead Empire.
