The Phocaean League is a formable nation in southern Europe, representing a unification of the former Phocaean colonies of the Western Mediterranean. It can be formed by countries of Massalian culture with their capital in Transalpine Gaul, Tarraconensis, Contestania, or Baetica such as Massilia, Emporion, or Hemeroskopeion, as well as the Italiote city of Elea, also a Phocaean foundation. Creating the league requires the reunification of all the main Phocaean cities and settlements, scattered all over the coasts of the Western Mediterranean, and will likely involve coming into conflict with the established power of Carthage as well as Rome if it manages to unite Italy.

Unlike most formable nations, the Phocaean League can only be formed by mission task, not decision, and is not a formal part of the formable nation tier system, and so for the most part can form and be formed by any other formable nation, so long as the country meets all of the other requirements.

The Phocaean League is formed as a reward for the final task in the Far From Home Greek cultural mission available to the Massalian culture countries of the Western Mediterranean, as well as Elea if it expands to own at least 5 territories.

Phocaean League

We have, after many trials and much toil, united the Phocaean diaspora which was set adrift by the Persian barbarians so long ago, and in the process established a Hellenic mercantile empire in the western Mediterranean.
