Numidia is a formable nation in north Africa that can be formed by nations in the Numidian culture group, representing a unification of the many Numidian tribes of the area such as Massaesylia, Massylia, and Mauretania. Uniting the Numidian tribes will require conquering or subjugating most of the other tribes, and in particular will involve seizing control of areas under the control or suzerainty of the major power of Carthage that currently dominates the region. Numidia can also be released as a client state by Rome through its unique missions if the Punic Wars DLC is enabled, uniting any subjects and controlled provinces it has in the area as a possible reward for gaining control over the region.
Historically, Numidia was united in 202 BC by Massylia under the rule of Masinissa, after siding with Rome in the Second Punic War and annexing the Carthaginian-aligned Massaesylia upon the Roman victory. At its height the kingdom would become one of the most powerful states in Africa, extending from well into Mauretania through Tripolitania entirely surrounding and encroaching into Carthage's remaining territories, but would be weakened by succession disputes and divided in two, eventually becoming a Roman client state before being directly annexed as a Roman province in 40 BC.
Formation requirements[edit | edit source]
Numidia can be formed by decision by any country in the Numidian culture group that manages to conquer the main cities and centres of power across the core Numidian regions.
A conglomeration of tribal states, the Kingdom of Numidia was united as a result of the fall of Carthage, directly caused by Rome. Later allying themselves with this new Italian power, Numidia continued to enjoy autonomy until a breakdown in relations drew the ire of Rome.
Release requirements[edit | edit source]
- Main article: Conquest of Africa
After conquering, subjugating, or peacefully vassalizing the region of Numidia, Rome can release Numidia as a client state to unify and administer the region through a task of the Conquest of Africa mission tree. If released this way, Numidia will not unite not only all territories in the region of Numidia, but also any Numidian culture group Roman subjects in the regions of Africa and Mauretania as well, such as Mauretania and Musulamia.
The Kingdom of Numidia
To avoid having to govern all of Africa ourselves, the Senate has decided to set up a Client Kingdom in the hills of Numidia. We will leave these tribesmen to govern themselves as they see fit, under our protection, of course.

Achievements[edit | edit source]
Because Numidia is formable only by countries that start the game as Megalithic, doing so may be an important step on the way to the Mystery Solved achievement.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Countries with this flag may be inherited by Rome if their ruling dynasty dies out.
