Iberia is the largest of the three Caucasian kingdoms, located in the center of the South Caucasus between
Colchis and
Albania. Emerging from the local Kartvelian tribes after the fall of the
Achaemenid Empire, Iberia would prosper under the Pharnazid dynasty as a
Seleukid client until that empire's decline and the rise of the 20px Parthians, afterwards becoming a
Roman subject and ally that would eventually form the core of the medieval Georgian kingdom as the Kingdom of Kartli. In 450 AUC, Iberia begins as a somewhat precarious position, readily able to dominate its fellow Caucasian kingdoms of
Colchis and
Albania but significantly weaker than
Armenia and
Atropatene to the south who may soon want to expand their power north - to say nothing of the Diadochi kingdoms beyond. If Iberia can play its diplomatic hand well and and avoid succumbing to internal divisions, it might be able to found a center of civilization in the mountain valleys to rival the great cities of the south and perhaps even restore the old 20px Persian Empire under Iberian rule if the Caucascus can be united and the
Seleukids defeated.

A few months after the start of the game, the historical Iberian king and founder Pharnavaz Pharnavazid (29) will begin to gather support for his claim to the throne. Around two years later, he will present an ultimatum to be recognized as king, which if refused will start a civil war.
Rebuilding Meschistha-Harmozike[edit]
If Pharnavaz is allowed to take the throne, several years later a new event chain will begin allowing the reconstruction of Meschistha-Harmozike into a city worthy of being a great capital, giving a significant permanent modifier once finished. If the renovations are not pursued, they can be started later by decision.
Armazism events[edit]
Around 10 years into Pharnavaz's reign, Iberia will get an event chain to raise the idol of Armazi, giving a permanent bonus to state religion happiness once completed. The owner of the territory where the idol is located can later get an event to unlock the Ainana and Danina deity for all Armazic countries.
Decisions[edit]
Iberia has a single unique country-specific decision as part of its unique event chain to improve its capital of Meschistha-Harmozike. The decision can be found in /ImperatorRome/game/decisions/iberia_decisions.txt.
Pharnavaz have long had several ideas on how to improve the capital, and it is time to put them into motion now that he is in charge of Iberia. No longer will foreigners look at us as some backwater region, but with envy.

Additionally, as a Caucasian culture group country, Iberia also has access to the decision to form 20px Persia if it integrates Persian culture.

The days of Cyrus and Darius are long gone, but the Persian people remember the great empires built by their own. It is time to throw off the shackles of our foreign oppressors, and unite our people once again!

Iberia begins with a population of 213 divided across its
42 territories. Most of the population is Ibero and Armazic, while the south has a significant minority of Armenian and Khaldic pops.

Iberia begins in with a sizable population, twice as large as its neighbouring Colchis. Unlike
Colchis however, large portion of population of which are citizens and freemen, Iberia's population is largely tribal and slaves, and is also relatively more diverse with Armenian and Albanian minorities present. Iberia's starting army consists of 2 cohorts of archers, 2 cohorts of heavy infantry and 2 cohorts of heavy Cavalry. Iberia in 450 AUC starts in a dire situation and with relatively limited options. First priority should be to have access to the sea routes and thus, annexation of
Colchis is a must. Next step should be conquest of
Albania, a minor tribal state to the east. As both share the culture group with Iberians, local unrest should be relatively easy to manage. Be wary of
Armenia from the south and seek stronger allies against them, their destruction should be a top priority. In this case, Alliance with the
Seleukid Empire should be the best option if possible. After obliterating
Armenia, there are two routes for the future development: either to expand to Anatolian heartland and annex Persian-grouped provinces, or expand south-eastwards and form 20px Persia after defeating the
Seleukid Empire. Either way however, after
Armenia is annexed, things should be relatively easy to manage.
