The Flag of Hellenistic Empire Hellenistic Empire is a formable nation representing the restoration of the Empire of Alexander the Great that had fallen apart some years before the start of the game. Its Diadochi successor states of Flag of Antigonid Kingdom Antigonid Kingdom, Flag of Seleukid Empire Seleukid Empire, Flag of Egypt Egypt, Flag of Macedon Macedon, and Flag of Thrace Thrace are the best positioned to reform the empire, but the Argead Empire can potentially be created by any Hellenistic culture group monarchy. As an endgame tag in an unofficial "fourth tier" - even other tier 3 formables can create it, if they meet the requirements - it has the most stringent requirements but the greatest rewards of any formable nation in the game. Forming the Argead Empire requires conquering the main cities across every part of the empire, from Macedonia and Egypt to Mesopotamia and all the way to the Indus Valley, but grants claims across almost all of its former territory - about a quarter of the entire map - as well as giving a powerful permanent modifier, including a bonus to Unintegrated culture group happiness Unintegrated Culture Group Happiness that makes further conquests and handling Aggressive expansion.png aggressive expansion much easier, a fit reward for the heirs of the great conqueror Alexander.

If the Hellenistic Empire is restored by a nation with ruled by a character with the Blood of the Argeads Blood of the Argeads trait - found at start only in the descendants of Phillippos II Argead, including Thessalonike Argead (wife of Basileus Kassandros of Flag of Macedon Macedon) and the deceased Kleopatra Argead (wife of the former Basileus Alexandros of Flag of Epirus Epirus), and available through a special event to the Lagids of Flag of Egypt Egypt - they will instead directly restore the Flag of Argead Empire Argead Empire, claiming both the dynastic and imperial legacy of Alexander the Great.

Missions[edit]

The Hellenistic Empire is closely associated with the unique Diadochi mission tree Hellenistic Empire, which guides the country through the restoration of Alexander's legacy by collecting the many treasures and artifacts of his rule, reuniting the core provinces of his vast empire, and pursuing various capital and nation-building projects to make the empire the cultural, intellectual, and economic center of the entire world, culminating in a massive civil war against the Flag of Satrap Coalition Satrap Coalition to fulfill Alexander's dream of uniting the diverse peoples of the empire into a single Hellenistic culture.

Note that this mission tree is available only if the country was originally one of the Diadochi kingdoms (Flag of Macedon Macedon, Flag of Thrace Thrace, Flag of Egypt Egypt, the Flag of Antigonid Kingdom Antigonid Kingdom, or the Flag of Seleukid Empire Seleukid Empire) or Flag of Epirus Epirus. Forming the Hellenistic Empire with another country will not give access to this mission tree.

For too long parasites and scavengers have made a feast of the Great Empire that Alexander spent a lifetime building. It is time we do away with all claimants, usurpers and delusional provincial strongmen. There can be only one authority within the empire of Alexander the Great, one upholder of the great Hellenistic legacy that this great man founded.

That one power could not possibly come from any dynasty but our own. Only a family that respects the Argead traditions can legitimately claim its legacy.

Events[edit]

Main article: Diadochi events#Capital of an Empire

Forming the Hellenistic Empire triggers a special event allowing the country to move its capital to either Alexandreia (516), Pella (379), Babylon (918), or Alexandreia Indos (4371), or retain the court at its current position. Each option will give a different bonus to the new capital - choosing the Alexandreia Indos option in particular will also grant claims to all of the region of Madhyadesa.

Satrap Coalition[edit]

Main article: Diadochi missions#Hellenistic Empire

If the Heirs of Alexander DLC is enabled, the Flag of Satrap Coalition Satrap Coalition can be created as a Civil war.png civil war releasable that appears as part of the final tasks of the unique Diadochi mission tree Hellenistic Empire, representing a revolt against the Hellenistic cultural unification project. This revolt will usually start from regions with a large number of primary culture that are angry about the perceived abandonment of their cultural traditions and privileges, and can be dangerous as many subjects and characters will join unless they are quite loyal. Defeating the Satrap Coalition, however, is necessary to finish the Hellenistic Empire mission tree and fully adopt the Hellenistic culture.

A storm brewing

Our painstaking construction of a universal empire is finally starting bear fruit. A cadre of administrators from all corners of the empire is trained in [ROOT.GetCountry.GetCapital.GetName] to carry out the will the [ROOT.GetCountry.GetRuler.GetFamilyDisplayName] dynasty. In the urban centers of the empire buds an imperial culture, with the seeds of a common language thriving, replacing old notions of tribal, religious, or cultural loyalties.
