20px Cyprus is a formable nation in the eastern Mediterranean. It can be formed by any small nation of no more than 12 territories with their capital on the province of Cyprus. At the start of the game in 450 AUC, the entire province is controlled by the Antigonid Kingdom, who is one of the main candidates for forming Cyprus if they lose most or all of their mainland territory. If Egypt wrests control of Cyprus during the Wars of the Diadochi, they will also have the option of releasing Cyprus as a client state under control of Eustonos Pasikratid with the special Install King of Soloi decision.
Uniquely among all other formable nations, Cyprus can be formed by any country with no tag, culture, religion, or formable nation tier requirements. However, it is also the only formable nation with a maximum allowed size, which means that a country forming it can hold very few territories outside of the island (none at all, if all of Cyprus is owned directly) and will rarely be formed during a normal game.
The island of Cyprus, rich in copper, and a prime trading port with the continent, makes a fine home for our people. It is time we embrace this national identity, and claim our place in history.
Cyprus can be released by a decision available to the host of Eunostos Pasikratid ( Egypt at the start of the game), or by a country that owns the entire province of Cyprus if he is dead. The event it triggers will give a choice between granting the Pasikratids a small feudatory consisting only of the city of 20px Soloi, or creating a new client state that encompasses the whole island.
Install King of Soloi
Our attempts to control the island of Cyprus were foiled by Antigonus the One-Eyed, but the old city-state of our Pasikratid allies may be resurrected - a kindness that will no doubt be generously rewarded.
Eunostos of Soloi
Ptolemais I Soter Lagid married his daughter, Eirene, to Eunostos, the last Pasikratid king of Soloi. This alliance gives us the opportunity to restore the family's lands under the claimant Eunostos, without fears over his loyalties...
||Is triggered only by
the Install King of Soloi decision
Let him return to Soloi.
The island will be his.
A ridiculous idea.
