Cilicia is a formable nation in southern Anatolia, representing a restoration of the ancient Luwian kingdom dating back to the days of the Hittite Empire. It can be formed by any Cilician cultured country that manages to conquer the main cities of the region, all under the control of the Antigonid Kingdom in 450 AUC. While no country starts with Cilician culture, Cilicia can still be formed by dynamically created client states or revolters that are released from Cilician cultured provinces, and would control a strategically important area at the crossroads of the Hellenistic world.
Historically, the classical Cilician kingdom alternated between periods of independence, at which point it became a regional power controlling much of southern Anatolia, and vassalization to the empires to the east from 20px Assyria to Babylon and finally the Achaemenid Empire, during which the kingdom would lose its autonomy and be integrated as a normal satrapy around 400 BC. Passing to the Argead Empire and then to the Antigonids, Ptolemies, and finally Seleukids, parts of the increasingly Hellenized region would regain their independence with the decline of Seleukid power before being unified as a province under Rome. Remaining a distinctive and important region in the empire, the kingdom of Cilicia would eventually be revived by the Armenians in the medieval era.
The Cilician people have long considered themselves as unique to their myriad overlords. This identity naturally leads us to suggest that our right to self-rule is accompanied by divine mandate. We must unite all Cilicia, and reclaim our homeland!
